A Maker Faire is and event where all kind of creative inventors gather to show their gadgets and projects.
A few days ago the Maker Faire Africa 2012 took place in Lagos and young and old creators made public their inventions.
Africans are extremely creative, and anyone who travels to the continent can easily confirm that. Even though they sometimes lack resources, they find ways to create things, to devise artifacts out of discarded materials to help make their lives easier.
I usually visit the site Afrigadget to see creations coming from Africa.
