For those of you who live in Oregon or SW Washington there are a couple of events coming in the next days related in some way to Ethiopian culture and I wanted to mention them before it’s too late.
This coming weekend, families with Ethiopian children will gather in Portland for the EAFO Summer Picnic Potluck on Sunday August 22nd from 4PM to 7PM.
Another event is the Glendi Cultural Food Festival. Even when this event celebrates Greek culture, there will be also Ethiopian food at the festival: Lentil Stew, Split Pea Stew, Spinach, Green Bean and Carrot Saute and of course Injera Bread! At the Marketplace you will find Ethiopian gifts to buy too. Glendi will take place on August 20th and 21st from 11AM to 10PM in Beaverton, OR.
Since it’s close to home, I will try to go with my children, the organizers promised to have plenty of activities for them.
If you live near Bend in Central Oregon, the group COFFEE is meeting on August 18th, August 25th and September 1st from 9:30 to 11:30AM for a play date.
If you can’t make it to any of these, you can still enjoy good Ethiopian food at any of the many Ethiopian restaurants we have in Portland:
Queen of Sheba, Mudai, Jarra’s, Bete Lukas, Sengaterra, Horn of Africa, Dalo’s, Selam Market and Restaurant, Blue Nile Café, or E’Njoni Café.
Bon appétit!
