This post is brought to you by the letter:
The fourth symbol of the Amharic alphabet is called MAY and its pronunciation is like an M. The printed letter is like two circles joined by a line on top, something that looks like a pair of headphones or maybe a pair of glasses The handwritten letter looks just the same. In this symbol we’ll used the 7 different vowels, including the two vowels A, one more closed or "ä" (pronunced between an a and an e) for the first order, and one more open or "a" for the fourth order, just check the sound examples.
Here is the table with the printed letter, handwritten letter and pronunciation, an a few examples. The animations were made according to the instructions in the book Writing and Reading Amharic and the sounds are form the site Amharic Online. Phonetic according to David Appleyard.
