Yes, they children keep growing and growing and my life is pretty busy taking care of them. Feromsa and Feven are very energetic kids, to say the least, and they get in trouble very often, specially when they are playing together, it took me a while to get used to be alert all day. Generally after they go to bed I’m so tired that I don’t have energy left for myself…
Feven talks a lot; she knows a lot of words and she is also is trying to make sentences and we can understand her pretty well. But she is very mischievous… and she is always doing something she shouldn’t, like stealing the bag with treats for the dogs and giving them the whole content all at once. And that just happened in a few seconds!!
She is already wearing 2 year old clothes so she’s right on target (she’s 21 months old now) and has opened up more to people outside of the family. She’s smart, funny, and playful, a normal toddler.
Feromsa is making progress but still has some days in which he regresses to previous stages. He’s communicating better but is a little behind for his age and I think a lot has to do with the fact that he’s learning two languages at the same time when it’s clear he wasn’t exposed much to any kind of verbal communication before. It also took Dylan some time to adapt to our bilingual life. Feromsa also has to mature emotionally, he’s still at a three year old level, more or less, but is quite smart when he gets interested in something. Neglect and lack of stimulation was his problem and since he was at least in more than one orphanage he is probably not used to have stability in his life.
Overall, both of them are healthy and happy, and we’ve seen a lot of progress in this almost a year since they are with us.
We were thinking of traveling to Argentina for the holidays to visit with the whole family, but we haven’t finished the re-adoption so the children don’t have their American passports yet. The visa for an Ethiopian citizen traveling to Argentina is complicated to get from here and we don’t want to get in all that kind of trouble when we are almost about to finish everything. We think that maybe in February we’ll be ready to travel and probably get a better deal with the airline tickets
