It’s a boy!
After waiting for almost a month, today we got the second referral. It’s a beautiful 3 and a half years old boy and it’s hard to watch him and not to be able to pick him up in your arms.
Finally our family is complete and the only thing left now is… more waiting !!!
Yes, again. We have to wait for the court date that if we are lucky will come before August 6th that is the starting of the vacation period in Ethiopia.
And after that, we will have the long travel to Ethiopia and the shorter one home because we will already have our children with us.
We can start arranging the bedrooms and to organize our future life as a family of 5.
I can’t hardly wait!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackCongratulations, Alicia! I can’t wait until you can post photos of your precious ones. I finally received immigration approval today. Soon my documents will be sent off for certification. Chances of them getting to Ethiopia before the August 6 break are quite slim. Do you know how long the break is and when they might be back in session?
Congratulations again to you and your family.
Mona
Hi Mona
I’m not completely sure about the exact date when the break ends, but I think the courts reopen around the first days of October.
I know it’s hard to wait but is worth it. Good luck with you adoption journey!

Congratulations on your referrals! We are also using Radu and our dossier was in Ethiopia mid April. We still don’t have a referral for 2 boys - 1 baby and one 4 or younger. We are a little disappointed, especially because he thought we would beat the court closures. Oh well, God will give us the right boys. I will continue to follow your journey. Take care!
Joy, I really don’t know how all the referral stuff works but I guess it is something done by the orphanage. We asked for two children 4 or under and at least one of them a girl, siblings or not. We were surprised to get the first referral so soon and more surprised than it was only one child and a baby, we thought we would get older children and the two of them together. We don’t know when we will travel, still a guessing game for us. So I don’t know how they make the assignments but I’m sure you will get two beautiful boys just as you want.

Congratualations!! I found your blog when I searched for Toukoul. We are also using Adoption Avenues and accepted our referrals June 13th. We just received a court date of October 3rd. Have you received a court date yet? Again, congratulations!
Andrea
Lucky you!!
No, we don’t have a court date yet, we were hoping to get one soon, but you never know…
So maybe we’ll meet in Ethiopia?
Congratulations to you too!!!

I stumbled on your blog while looking for information on Ethiopian adoption. My husband and I have just started talking and praying about adopting a little boy and right now Ethiopia is on the top of my list. We’re still reeling from the realization of the financial costs but I am definitely bookmarking your blog so I’ll have it as a resource when we move from research to action!

Ethiopia has one of the most affordable and fastest adoption programs, besides Ethiopian children are beautiful and the country has a rich history, so old you that can say with no doubt that the human race originated there. So, if you plan to adopt a child it is a perfect place to go.
And don’t forget about the tax breaks in the US, that is a BIG help!

Hi, i just found your blog! Our dossier just arrived in Ethiopia a couple of weeks ago. We’re waiting for a referral of twins. I have no idea how long it takes-We’re working with Adoption Avenues also and Radu told us it could take up to 3 months or more! Your blog gives me some hope that it will be sooner. I will keep coming back to see how your journey goes! Melissa
