Many of you might have seen that old movie “Bringing Up Baby” with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn about the rich girl with the leopard that falls in love with a paleontologist.
Well, I’m not sure if Feven is closer to the character of Katharine Hepburn or the leopard. Yeah, I’m not kidding, she’s quite the trouble maker!
Now that she can walk she is always getting into trouble and I don’t have enough eyes, hands and legs to keep her out of danger.
When I control one situation, she finds another thing to mess with; there are some days in which I end up exhausted.
She still has that beautiful joyful personality, always happy and laughing, but let me tell you… she is wild! And she is not afraid of anything; she climbs chairs, tables, and stairs; she walks, runs, and jumps; she puts everything she can get her hands on in her mouth, raids the pantry looking for food to eat, throws food to the dogs and cats, and also plays with the dog’s water bowl and food.
I had to put latches in every drawer, cabinet, door… and I even had to find a way lock the toilets!! Yeah, I know it sounds weird but she was obsessed with the toilet, and with two boys in the house is not always easy to keep it all clean and with the lids down, and anyway, she found a way to open it up and play with the toilet water! So, what did I do? I put Velcro in the toilet seats and covers!!
Yeah, don’t laugh at me, she was driving me crazy with that, so I thought and thought what to do, and came up with the idea of locking it up with a couple of pieces of professional strength Velcro. I’ve just learned there are some toilet seat locks available so I’m going to buy some but in the meantime… Velcro to the rescue!
And I don’t want to think about what is expecting me in the future; she’s is just 15 months old!!
But she has sooooo many good things! She is a really happy baby, very sweet and so well attached to us. She can now eat alone seating at the “big” table without making any mess and she’s learning to use the fork and spoon. She is very intelligent and is always ready to learn something new. Oh, and she sleeps so well the whole night and I don’t have to fight with her to put her in bed. I should also say that Feromsa is a sleep champion too! No complains at all and no waking up during the night, plus he gets up in the morning with a smile on his face.
And believe me, a good sleeper is VERY important, the child gets a good rest and you too.
But going back to the baby, she is really a challenge, and having two boys around she wants to be one of them, be part of the gang, so she runs after them, copies their game and imitates every move. She doesn’t want to use the baby swing, she wants the big guys swing! She doesn’t want to be on a wagon, she wants to ride the big bike, and of course, she wants to climb up the slide not to just go down!
But don’t be fooled, she is not a follower, she is totally a leader and many, many times is she the one that teaches Feromsa the latest trick.
And after she messed up, she will shake those eyelashes a couple of times like saying, “am I cute or what?”

When you said you put velcro on the toilet seats, I lost it. I am still laughing. She sounds like one wild child but so cute! I love the last picture with her in the swimsuit. So cute!
