Cranky Feven
Since we brought the children from Ethiopia we’ve been having the problem that it’s hard for the baby to take a nap due to the noise in the environment.
Feven generally takes two naps, one short in the morning and a long one in the afternoon.
The problem is that Feromsa rarely takes a nap and Dylan of course never does, so they wake up the poor baby quite often or sometimes they don’t let her sleep at all. Feromsa isn’t a quiet boy, to say the least. I am still unable to make him talk in a softer voice or stop him from dragging things on the floor.
But nobody wants a cranky baby, right?
We also live on a street that is very busy during the day, with cars that go over the speed limit, trucks carrying dirt or rocks, and school buses coming and going all day and a bus stop just in our corner.
If we add to that two very noisy dogs, two cats and the normal activities of a home, it’s kind of difficult to sleep with such a noise.
We had to find a solution so at least Feven can take her nap quietly and at the same time not limiting the activities of the rest of the family, specially now that it’s still winter and it’s cold and rainy outside almost every day and the kids are forced to play inside.
So I’ve got the idea to buy a white noise machine.
white noise machineYes, I didn’t even know they existed, but I heard about them someplace and I started to do my research.
It is not very expensive  and it generates a soft sound, like air flowing, that cancels all other noises and is a miracle for people who have trouble sleeping or lives in a noisy neighborhood. It’s also useful for people who have trouble concentrating when working or reading.
We tried it, and… Voila, problem solved!
Now the baby sleeps like… well, a baby!
And everybody happy.
